Thanksgiving, What a Wonderful Time
Calvin Morse
CCS Grade 6

When the apples have gone
And so have the pumpkins
We think what’s the next holiday.
Then we remember it’s Thanksgiving.
With all that food we say
“Hip hip-hooray, the time has come
For all this food and thanks!”
We will cook and cook for the dinner
And when we sit down
We have to give our thanks and then we eat.
After all the commotion’s over
We will soon go to sleep
As quiet as a mouse
And the next year we will do it all again.

Thanksgiving Joys
by Moira Brown, CCS Alpha 6

Fat, juicy turkeys, straight from the farm.
Sweet pumpkin pie, sugary and warm.
Enticing smells fill the house,
I tuck in my blouse.
And parade down the stairs,
Gone are worries and cares.
Thanksgiving is here,
for another year!

Turkey Day

by Korynne Steria, CCS Alpha 6

Turkey Day
Is here to stay
For twenty-four hours at least
The stuffing cooking in the oven
The vegetables nice and warm
The kitchen in a swarm
Everyone taking thanks
And giving it, too
The sky outside is nice and blue
The air fresh and crisp
The kitchen a blur of sweet smelling
mist.

Turkey Day
Is here to stay
For twenty four hours at least
The dogs bark
The people talk
All around the house
Eating a carrot
We find a mouse
But spread the holiday cheer
When the big dinner
Is finally done
We go out
Warmed by the sun
And coming nearer
By the day
Is Turkey Day
And it’s here to stay.
(For twenty four hours at least)
