How high did you jump? How loud did you shout when Landon Donovan scored the winning goal over Algeria last week? How exhausted did you feel for John Isner and Nicolas Mahut during their longest match ever at Wimbledon? Or for the U.S. team during the Ghana contest? What an exciting week of soccer and tennis.
Have your kids experience the games this summer at Charlotte Tennis Camp and the North American Soccer Camp here in Charlotte. Amy deGroot, coach of the Division I CVU girls tennis team, is having two camps at the beach tennis courts: for ages 8-11, dates are July 5-9, and for ages 10-14, the camp will be held July 19-23.
For those of you with World Cup fever, NASC (North American Soccer Camps, formerly MLS) is coming to Charlotte July 19-23 for an exciting week of soccer camp. Please sign up or contact the recreation office soon to get your child a place in either camp before they fill up.
Other camps are also happening: Tiny Tennis will be held August 2-6 at CCS for ages 3 to 7; and back again from last summer, Flip & Cheer Camp will be from August 16 to 20.
Don’t forget to plan an adventure day at the Great Escape, Bromley Sun Mountain Adventure or Six Flags. You can get deeply discounted tickets for all venues at Town Hall, open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays.
Hanging out here in Charlotte? It is time to hit the beach. The water is refreshing, the tennis courts are ready, and the grills are waiting. Come down and enjoy the day. Summer passes for Charlotte residents are $15 for the season ($30 for non-residents). Day passes available for $2 and $4 per vehicle.
Information: As always, if you have any questions contact Deb Stone at the recreation office at recreation@townofcharlotte.com or 425-6129. Our website address is charlottevt.org, tab recreation.
