Town Bites by Edd Merritt Work moves ahead on the project up Pease Mountain.
Following a lengthy process to gain planning approval, work has begun on the development behind Charlotte Central School called Williams Hill. The access road to the home sites is currently being filled and laid.

Seventh graders reach out to seniors. Charlotte Central seventh grade students are offering to lend a helping hand to their community elders. The offer begins by asking whether seniors need a hand with spring chores – some help raking the yard perhaps, planting flowers, cleaning gutters, moving plants outdoors, washing windows, mopping floors – you name it. On Thursday, May 22, a crew of capable seventh graders will come to seniors’ houses along with a supervising parent for 1-2 hours of work – toll free. Anyone interested in signing up should contact Mary Recchia at 425-6345 (or catch her at her desk at the Senior Center) or Nancy Barnes at 425-2905.
Are you ready for the “scents” of spring? Ah, the trillium is in bloom. Gardeners are hard at it. Proms hit with aplomb – or is it a bomb? And, what ho – what scent from yonder field tickles the nostrils? Yes sir, it’s manure. The honey wagons are all over the roads, and what makes Charlotte still a rural community pervades our atmosphere. Breathe deep and suck it up. Oh, and don’t get the wrong idea about this being a town “bite.” You can eat it if you like. I prefer it aged a bit and on my tomatoes.
