Charlotte FarmstandCo-op.com is expected to go live online in June. Local farmers and gardeners will be able to offer their fresh vegetables, fruit, eggs, local meats and other produce for sale directly to consumers. The website is being developed by a group of growers, producers and families who want to encourage local food production and consumption. They are working with a range of producers to ensure that there will always be food for sale through the website as well as providing an outlet for very small family farmers or gardeners who have only small amounts of highly seasonal produce. Consumers can join for $30, which they will receive as credit toward future purchases.
There will be a demonstration with refreshments from 7-8 p.m. on June 9 at the Senior Center. For information contact: Suzy Hodgson at suzyhodgson@gmavt.net or 425-3758, or Bob Hyams at rnhyams@gmavt.net or 734-5630.
