Two More Homes Are Burglarized

by Rowan Beck, December 1, 2011, page 1.....On November 17 between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. the house of Celeste and Arthur Adams, on Greenbush Road, was broken into. The incident was reported to the State Police and officer Scott Ambrose came to take a statement.
On November 28, a residence on Lime Kiln Road was burglarized. The incident occurred during the daytime hours. Several items, including electronics and jewelry, were taken.
Victims of the first incident, the Adams’ think the perpetrators were interrupted, as some larger items were left behind. “The computer desk is on wheels and it had been pulled out as if they were trying to take it, but everything was still there. They took all of Celeste’s jewelry. Most of it was vintage jewelry that had been given to her by her mother. They also took watches, a camera with lenses that was sitting by the door, but there was plenty of other equipment in other rooms that was left behind. This is what led them to think the burglars had been interrupted.
Their house is nestled in some trees just back from the road, but the door is clearly visible. The door had been pried open, which Arthur discovered when he returned home for lunch. Officer Ambrose suggested they check craigslist.com for the lost items. The Adams’ wonder if the perpetrators knew what they were looking for, as it appears they took items that could be sold easily.
The Charlotte News has learned that at least some of the Adams’ stolen possessions were recovered by police on Tuesday, November 29.
It is startling that the crime took place in broad daylight so close to the road. “It is unsettling and weird.” Celeste said. It is a reminder to all that Charlotte is not immune to crime. Residents need to be aware of their surroundings and need to lock up their houses.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Vermont State Police at 878-7111.
