Times:
7 a.m.-7 p.m.: Polls are open for voting by Australian ballot on school budgets (CCS and CVU) and for the election of town and school officers.
9 a.m.: Town Annual Meeting
1 p.m.: Charlotte School District Annual Meeting
(Note: The date and time in the Warning on page 138 in the Town Report are inaccurate; the voters approved this Town Meeting time last year.)
Tables for displays by nonprofits:
Tables will be set up in the hall outside the multipurpose room for the use of local nonprofits. They are available starting at 6 p.m. Monday, February 28, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Lunch on Town Meeting Day:
The Charlotte Recreation Department will be selling lunch and baked goods to raise money for recreation programs. Food donations are welcome; call Deb Stone at 425-6129 for details.
Other related meetings:
Monday, February 28, 5 p.m.: Champlain Valley Union High School Annual Meeting in Room 142 at CVU. All voters in the district are encouraged to attend to find out more about the 2011-2012 school budget. The vote on the CVU budget will be held on Town Meeting Day, March 1, at local polling places in each of the four member towns. Annual Reports for CSSU and CVU are available at the Town Hall, CCS, CVU and online at cssu.org.
Monday, February 28, 7 p.m.: Charlotte School District public hearing on school budget in the multipurpose room at CCS.
Early voting:
Ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s office now through February 28 for early voting on school budgets (CCS and CVU) and candidates for town and school offices. The Town Hall is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Voters can come to the office to vote in person or to pick up their own ballots, or they can call to request that ballots be mailed for themselves or another family member. All ballots must be returned by the close of polls at 7 p.m. on March 1. To vote at Town Meeting one must have registered by Wednesday, February 23.
