CSB Hawks swoop into regional hockey tournament.
The Chittenden-South Burlington Hawks hockey team of AB squirts defeated Woodstock 3-2 to advance to sectional play in Connecticut March 19-21. Charlotte’s Ethan Leonard scored twice in the last minute and one-half of the championship game to bring the team up from a one-goal deficit. Fellow Charlotters Tyler Bodette and Jennings Lobel joined him on the team. Rick Leonard and Bob Lobel coached.
Long hopes to shine in the Shrine game.
CVU defensive end Matthew Long from Shelburne will be the first Redhawk selected to play on the 36-man Vermont Shrine football team in this summer’s 57th annual Shrine Maple Sugar Football game against New Hampshire.
Delorge helps Trinity move through the NEACS semi-finals.
Charlotte’s KC Delorge, playing for Trinity Baptist men’s basketball team, contributed 13 points in its victory over Oakwood Christian School of Troy, New York. He was one of four players on the squad to hit double figures in a balanced attack that resulted in a 70-59 win. In the semi-final game against Victory Baptist, however, it took a last-second lay-up to secure a 41-40 squeaker. Trinity capped its season on Saturday, winning the New England Association of Christian School (NEACS) championship 49-32 over Grace Baptist of Massachusetts.
Marston hits top ten at the Snow Bowl.
Chase Marston, Middlebury College skier from Charlotte, was one of the first ten finishers to cross the line at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (ESIA) championships held at the Middlebury Snow Bowl recently. Skiing in the men’s 10-kilometer classic race, Chase placed ninth with a time of 33 minutes, 3 and 4-tenths seconds.
