Charlotte runners O’Neill and Krolick place in two major races.
Jean O’Neill and Carlie Krolick recently ran in races on opposite sides of the country, and both competed well. O’Neill placed fifth in the Big Sur, California, 21-Miler. Her high finish moved her into third place in the Women’s Master’s Division. She plans to compete locally in the Vermont City Marathon.
Carlie Krolick traveled down the east coast to run in the Boston Marathon last month. Her time of 3 hours, 54 minutes and 52 seconds placed her about in the middle of the pack that included several thousand runners.

deGroot recruited to play soccer at UVM.
Kylie deGroot of Charlotte and CVU has been recruited by the University of Vermont to play soccer next year. A defender for the Redhawks, Kylie will be one of seven new Catamounts in the fall and the lone Vermonter in the group.

Madison Hartley named Burlington Free Press “Athlete of the Week” for April 24.
Charlotte’s Madi Hartley, who attends Burlington High School, was named Athlete of the Week by the Burlington Free Press for her role in the school’s tennis victories against Rice Memorial, Essex and Mount Mansfield Union high schools. Hartley transferred to BHS from Rice last fall.

CVU football coach and player garner rewards.
Redhawk football coach Jim Provost who led the team into the Division II championship game was named coach of the year by the Vermont chapter of the National Football Foundation. Williston’s Matt Long, who plays end on both defense and offense, won recognition by state coaches as being the best player in their eyes. South Burlington’s Dolphin Football Foundation sponsored his award.

Make-A-Wish hockey roster includes CVU’s Parent.
Forward Sam Parent of the Redhawks’ state runner-up men’s hockey team was named as an alternate to play in the annual Make-A-Wish hockey classic against all-stars from New Hampshire this summer. Parent is the only CVU team member on the squad.
