Single Truck Crash Closes Route 7
May 31, 2011.....
Traffic was detoured for three hours this afternoon due to an accident on Route 7 just south of the northern intersection of Route 7 and Church Hill Road. A tractor trailer truck driven by Arthur Vezina of Shelburne went off the road and rolled over.
Charlotte fire trucks were stationed at the light by Steve's Citgo to direct northbound traffic up Church Hill Road, at Abel & Lovely to control traffic from and onto Hinesburg Road, and at the top of the hill on Route 7 to direct southbound traffic onto Church Hill Road.
School buses and parents picking up children at the close of school were caught up in the lines of cars. Route 7 was reopened at about 4:45 p.m.

SUMMARY OF CRASH: On 5/31/11 at approximately 14:01 VSP and DMV Enforcement responded to Rt. 7 in Charlotte by the intersection of Church Hill Rd. for a Tractor Trailer accident. A 2005 Mack truck and trailer had veered off the edge of the roadway northbound, striking a telephone pole before overturning on Rt. 7. No other vehicles were involved. Rt. 7 was closed for approximately 3 hours while the truck was removed. Operator inattention is blamed for the crash.
