SNOW DAYS! Many of you do not venture out in the snow but for those of you who do, if there is ever a question whether the Senior Center is closed due to weather, we will follow the Charlotte Central School closing which is posted on local TV and radio stations.
Anyone who would enjoy a low impact, high-energy aerobic class is welcome to pick up a free pass at the host desk and try Jazzercise Lite with Kit Sayers on Monday and Thursday mornings from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Fitness that's not intimidating, just invigorating. You will forget that you are exercising as you twist, dance, kick box, weight lift and stretch to popular music. The instructor easily accommodates all abilities, so come get Fit with Kit. It is just plain fun!
Do you play Cribbage but can’t find anyone to play with. Are you just a bit rusty from those college days? A growing number of cribbage enthusiasts are joining Bob Wood after the Wednesday luncheon for a friendly game of cribbage. All are welcome.
The Center is pleased to host the American Red Cross Blood Drive on Thursday, December 20, from 2 to 7 p.m. The comfortable atmosphere, great snacks and a free magnetic massage by Phyllis Austin, of Vermont Wellness make giving the “Gift of Life” at this site most pleasurable.
For those of you looking ahead, Shirley Reid-Thompson will be offering a Pastel Painting Class on Wednesday mornings in January from 9:30 to noon beginning January 9. This workshop will focus on helping you develop your own individual style with pastels. We will work on composition, technique and color values. This is a class for pastel painters of all levels. Call Shirley at 425-3444 for a materials list. Registration necessary. Limit 8. Course fee: $80.
Another choice is The Art of Indian Cooking with Gopi Advanti on Thursday afternoons in January beginning January 17. Add some spice to your life! Gopi will have four lessons lasting two hours each. The lessons will start with simple staple foods and gradually progress to fancier items. Each day will have typical menu items that you can learn and have some hands on experience with it. You will have the opportunity to modify the recipes to your desire and also test the foods. Registration necessary. Maximum 10. Fee: $15 per lesson includes all materials.
Our glorious Senior Luncheons are held every Wednesday at noon. Reservations are necessary in advance and can be made by calling the Senior Center at 425-6345. A $4 donation is requested to help cover costs. Those who do not wish to share lunch with us are welcome to drop in around 1 p.m. to enjoy the after lunch offerings.
