Selectboard Updates
by John Hammer
Burleigh Farm purchase sale supported.
The Selectboard met in regular session on April 28 and agreed to sign a letter committing the town to disbursing two checks totaling $290,000 from the Charlotte Conservation Fund to the Vermont Land Trust and The Nature Conservancy. The letter, jointly sent to the Charlotte Conservation Trust and Lewis Creek, will enable the Vermont Land Trust to go ahead in engaging the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board in a plan to conserve the Burleigh Farm with its large woodlands in southeast Charlotte.
Recreation Commission plans to coordinate Recreation events.
Carlie Krolick and members of the Recreation Commission appeared before the Selectboard to work out a plan to coordinate recreational events taking place in Charlotte. The intent is for the commission to institute a procedure whereby event planners would apply for permission. The commission would screen the applications and forward their recommendations to the Selectboard. It is their intent to ensure better quality and safer events.
