Refugee Resettlement in Need of Volunteers and Donations
Refugee Resettlement in Need of Volunteers and Donations
by Marcia Stone

The Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program is alive and well and bustling with new arrivals! The organization is receiving refugees from Burundi, Bhutan, Iraq and soon from Burma (Myanmar). These people are wonderful and fascinating to get to know and help adjust to American life.
Would you like an opportunity to make a remarkable difference in someone’s life? How about the opportunity to make yourself happy by giving of your time and talents? We are in need of volunteers right now and in the future. If you would like to join our dynamic volunteer group, please call 338-4632 for details and an application.
Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program completely furnishes refugees’ apartments from donations, so we look for a variety of items, including twin and double mattress sets and bed frames, blankets, dressers, kitchen tables and chairs, couches, pots and pans, dishes, bowls, serving utensils, flatware and televisions. We also accept new and unused toiletries and cleaning supplies. The items are all stored in our warehouse at 462 Hegeman Avenue in Colchester. Please contact Deirdre at 338-4632 if you have any items that you could part with and also call if you have items not on this list that we might find useful. All donations are tax deductible.
