Recreation News: Fall Programs
by Deb Stone, Recreation Coordinator,
August 25, 2011, page 15.....

What a great summer we have had of camps and programs. Our children were busy at Amy deGroot’s tennis camps, Ute Otley’s hoops camp, British Soccer Camps, Ila Seward’s Flip & Cheer Camp, not to mention our AWESOME new recreation Open Arms Academy horse camp with Meghan Miles and Heidi Sheldrick and Local Motion’s bike skills camp. Most of the camps are returning next summer with maybe another new one here or there as well.

Fall Recreation Soccer will be gearing up the first week of school. If you forgot to sign up your child for this fun, skill- and team-building recreation program, you can still do so. (There is a late fee at this point unless you want to volunteer.) If you have already signed up, the teams will be formed soon, and you will get an e-mail from either the Recreation Office or your child’s coach about when to report for practices. The game schedule will be posted on the website by September 5.

Fall Driver’s Education Class, 10/17-11/17. Sign up now to reserve your spot. The class will meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 4:15-6:15 p.m., October 17 through November 17. Mr. Browne will schedule driving time with students on the weekends. Sign up early to reserve your spot in the class. Registration fee is $650, and the registration deadline is October 12. We need to have at least 10 students signed up to hold the class. Information is on the website; please e-mail the Recreation Office with any questions about the class.

Other fall programs: We are going to be having a Flip, Dance and Cheer class and a Middle School CHEER group starting later this fall. Kung Fu classes will start up again on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning October 17. Celtic Dance classes will also return with classes on Friday afternoons. Please check the website for more information, which will be posted as it is available.

Adult Charlotte Walking Group: Would you like to do some walking around Charlotte? There are over 70 miles of roads, not to mention trails. Charlotte Recreation would like to set up a walking group for adults to walk the roads in Charlotte if there are enough interested individuals. Please call the Recreation Office to get on the list and to offer ideas for routes to take.
As always if you have any questions, contact Deb Stone at the Recreation Office, recreation@townofcharlotte.com or 425-6129. Our website address is charlottevt.org tab recreation.
