Green Mountain Habitat for Humanity is hosting a public gathering at the Old Lantern on Greenbush Road Friday, June 18, beginning at 5 p.m. The purpose is to introduce Charlotters and other area residents to the three new affordable houses being built across the street on the former Burns’ property and to sign up volunteers to work on the project. Ticket donations which will go toward the cost of the houses’ foundations will be $10 per individual or $25 for a family of four or more. It is billed as a BYOS (Bring Your Own Shovel) event --bring your own food, we might add, too. Desserts and beverages will be provided free of charge, including Rhino Food cheesecake and fresh berries from the Charlotte Berry Farm. Dixieland artist Dr. Jazz and keyboardist Tom Cleary will provide upbeat music come rain or shine.
