Preschoolers Donate Toys to Refugee Program
Preschoolers Donate Toys to Refugee Program
by Nancy Elder, Director of the Charlotte Children’s Center,
February 10, 2011, page 10.....

Members of the Seeker classroom at the Charlotte Children’s Center held a toy drive in the month of January. Children were asked to donate gently used toys so they could be given to other children who needed them. Karen Brittain, head preschool teacher, says that it is important to make children aware at a young age that they are members of a larger community. The children were able to see that as each child brought an item in, they soon had a great many toys to send on to others. All of the donations will go to the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program in Burlington.
In December the Explorer Room held a food drive, and contributions were taken to the Charlotte Food Shelf.
