Only Flood Damage to Primary Residences Eligible For FEMA Relief
by Nancy Wood,
June 2, 2011, page 4.....

Everyone with flood damage has been urged by the state to call 2-1-1 to report it.

However, the Selectboard has been told that costs of repairs to town-owned property, such as the new sea wall on Lake Road, are probably not significant enough to be covered by FEMA.

Relief money is for primary residences.
Damage to summer camps, personal property like docks and boats, and real estate such as eroded banks, etc., may not be eligible for FEMA coverage.

PHOTO CAPTION: On May 5, the day before Lake Champlain approached its record high of 103.19 feet, the waves were eroding the bank near the abutments of the Holmes Creek Covered Bridge. Road Commissioner JR Lewis trucked in black rocks from the town shale pit on Bob Titus’ property to build a new sea wall. Here Gary French uses the backhoe to move the rocks into place.
