Old Lantern “LIVE!” is Kicking
by Robin Reid
Thanks to everyone who came out to the first concert at the Old Lantern on June 14. The opening set by Plutonic Fever was very entertaining. The band of Vergennes and Essex Jct. high school students was dressed to kill and their renditions of songs by Blink 182 and Green Day blended well with a pair of Plutonic Fever originals. Congrats on a great performance. Ragged Glory reveled in the fabulous light show put on by Ben Chartrand of CW Lightworks. The music was awesome and everyone loved having a concert of songs by Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Then FunkenBluze closed out the night with rousing versions of classic favorites sprinkled with original blues tunes. Thanks to all the performers for putting on such a great show for the premiere evening of Old Lantern “LIVE!” And thanks to Tyler Wainer for operating the soundboard.
Thanks also to Peter Fenn and daughters Isabel and Sophie for bringing their Flying Hayseeds Pizza wagon to the event. This “flatbread on a flatbed” was a great success! And the Vermont Ice Cream Company’s flavorful variety of delicious Vermont-made, “smooth but hard” ice cream was a yummy treat. A special thank you goes to Old Lantern owners Roland and Lisa Gaujac for their interest to bring music for the public back to the legendary dance hall.
