Next Steps for the Inn at the Old Lantern
Next Steps for the Inn at the Old Lantern

Issues of screening, rights-of-way and potential erosion were brought up at the Planning Commission hearing on the Inn on May 20, with Commissioner Joslin suggesting that the building might be better moved about 20 feet from the current site proposal. Lisa Gaujac pointed out that the Inn is a business, and needs to be visible from Greenbush Road; and a representative of Connor Homes of Middlebury, the firm that will build the Inn, pointed out how sensitive the Gaujacs have been to having the building fit in with the neighborhood. The Inn will be a Greek revival farmhouse style, with much of it prebuilt in the factory, which will minimize the noise and disruption at the site.
On a unanimous vote the commission closed the hearing for preliminary application for planned unit development and site plan review. The next step will be for the Gaujac’s to return with final plans for the Final Hearing.
