Summer Reading Has Kicked Off

The Charlotte Library Summer Reading Program, “One World, Many Stories,” kicked off June 21. Families enjoyed a storytelling session with David Sewell-McCann and a special guest appearance by Fern, the 9-day-old goat kid belonging to Jan Cannon and Lee McIsaac. Story times, craft programs and other activities continue through the summer.

Read to Feed
Don’t miss a chance to participate in the library’s “Read to Feed” contest. The more books you read, the more pennies you get to vote for your choice of animal to donate to Heifer International. According to the organization, “the Read to Feed program encourages reading skills, while teaching students how they can empower families around the world with the gift of livestock, heightening awareness that their actions are making a difference in the lives of others.” Additional donations to our “Read to Feed” effort are welcome.

Charlotte Summer Playgroup
The Charlotte Playgroup will have a summer session at the library on Wednesdays from 10 -11:30 a.m. starting July 13. They will be out on the grass weather permitting, and there will be a new group activity every week. Playgroup dates are July 13, 20 and 27, and August 3, 10 and 17. For more information contact Teressa Tomsen at 764-5820 or by e-mail at teressatomsen@gmail.com.
