At the August 17 meeting, the CCS Board met in executive session to discuss teacher negotiations. According to Board Chair Lynne Jaunich, the fact finders report was due on August 16, and will be made public on August 27.
The Vermont Department of Education recently released the Challenges for Change target reductions for all school districts in Vermont. Charlotte’s share of the CSSU target of $1,169,526 is $122,761 in cuts. CSSU Superintendent Elaine Pinkney is meeting with district school boards to determine if the allocations to each school and the district are acceptable.
The CCS Board will be encouraging public involvement throughout the budget process this fall.
The board approved a construction contract change order making the total for the school reconstruction $2,256,162.68. The construction committee reported that the demolition is completed, and between 50-55% of demolished material was recycled. The project is on budget and on schedule.
Parents have been notified of the new bus schedules, which have been changed due to the budget reduction from seven to six bus routes.
The new co-principals, Audrey Boutaugh and Greg Marino, are looking forward to meeting parents and community members at the PTO BBQ next Thursday evening, September 2, from 5-7 p.m. on the CCS playground.
