Downloadable audio books are here!
The Charlotte Library is pleased to offer you an exciting new service: downloadable books that can be saved to an MP3 player! We have partnered with over 80 libraries throughout the state to form the Green Mountain Library Consortium, which hosts the website for our downloadable audiobook program, "Listen Up, Vermont!" You can save the audiobooks to your home computer, then transfer them to an MP3 player or, in some cases, burn them to a CD to listen to at your leisure. In the very near future, we will offer MP3 players for Charlotte Library cardholders to check out and earbuds to purchase. For more information, please go to our website: charlottepubliclibrary.org.
Jenny Cole wows library patrons with her art.
You may think that you are familiar with Jenny’s paintings, but we guarantee that you have never seen this element of her work. These paintings are vibrant with eye-catching hues that command your attention and firmly draw you in. This is not a show to be missed!
Toothpaste collection fascinates many.
It’s not often that you get the opportunity to see over 40 different varieties of toothpaste or toothpowder in one collection, but stop by the library and that’s just what you’ll find. Jacob Holmes, on his many trips to countries all over the world, has collected all kinds of exotic teeth-cleaning agents: Seaweed toothpaste from Japan, Monkey Brand Black Toothpowder from Bangladesh , Honey Toothpaste from Israel, Dabur Red Toothpowder from Nepal and many more.
Tender loving care needed
Library materials get a lot of use and from time to time need repairs. If working with glue, tape and rubber bands appeals to you, please stop by the library to find out more about this volunteer job.
Programs and Activities for Children
Spring is for the Birds!
Celebrate spring like the robins do! Build a nest for display at the Charlotte Library. Stop by or call the library for details. Here are a few guidelines to get you started: Build your nest as a bird would, to shelter and protect eggs. Collect your materials outside, gathering only items birds would get themselves (man-made materials are allowed only as a bird might use them). Please refrain from using any mud or other materials that could damage books (this includes any item that would contain insects or pests). Drop off your nest at the library during open hours from now until April 18. Please bring nest on a paper plate for display.
Keep on Movin’ & Groovin’.
Ellen Bosworth returns to the library for springtime singing and dancing beginning March 11. Drop in every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. for a half-hour of fun. Program runs through April 15.
Book Club Begins April 14.
Book lovers from fourth grade up are invited to the next session of the Library Book Club. Readers meet to chat about favorite books, prepare the book weblink for the library and enjoy the famous Library Snacks! Join Cheryl Sloan on Monday, April 14, at 3 p.m. CCS students can take the bus from school with a parent’s note. Please call the library to sign up at 425-3864.
