Jenny Cole Will Leave Selectboard
Jenny Cole Will Leave Selectboard
by Nancy Wood,
December 16, 2010, page 1.....

After nine years of service, Jenny Cole has decided not to run for re-election in 2011.

She said, “I made the decision several months ago. I would like to give more time to art and craftwork – and have been slowly putting pieces in place (work space, website, product ideas) to go about this in a more businesslike way. Being on the board has been challenging and rewarding. I still hope to be a member of the Charlotte Park and Wildlife Refuge Oversight Committee and am interested in working with others to follow through on restoring the Thorp Barn at the park and creating a garden on the Town Green to honor Charlotte veterans.”

Cole has been a thoughtful and hard-working presence on the board. As liaison to the Park Committee she has been involved in everything from rethinking the approach to the agricultural leases to hands-on trail construction and removal of invasive species. She has taken on many tasks through the years, most recently redoing the town’s website (take a look at charlottevt.org) and organizing the annual holiday party for town volunteers.

Jenny is vacating a three-year term on the board. John Owen, who was appointed to the board when Frank Thornton retired earlier this year, has taken out a petition for that seat, leaving a two-year slot to be filled that, Jenny says, “is ideal for anyone who may want to make a shorter commitment.” Gerald A. Bouchard is the only person who, as of Monday, had requested a petition for the two-year term.
