Hinesburg artist Jean Carlson Masseau will raffle a limited edition print of a watercolor painting to benefit the Vermont Disaster Relief Fund during Open Studio Weekend on October 1 and 2. The painting, titled Pears Served in the Garden, was inspired by the gardens and dining room at the Basin Harbor Resort on Lake Champlain. It depicts three pears wrapped in green and white striped tissue, surrounded by a border design that recreates the green, white and silver-themed gardens that grace the resort’s property. It is a Giclee fine art print utilizing archival inks on smooth rag printmaking paper. The painting has a retail value of $130 and measures 17” x 22”.
The Relief Fund was created by the United Ways of Vermont in cooperation with the executive board of the Vermont Voluntary Organizations Active In Disaster (Vermont VOAD) and Vermont Emergency Management (VEM) to be used specifically for longterm recovery. The United Ways of Vermont is the fiscal agent for the fund.
During the statewide Open Studio Tour, visitors are invited to Jean’s studio on Saturday, October 1, and Sunday, October 2, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., to view the print and purchase raffle tickets at $2 each or 3 for $5. Her studio and gallery are located on Windrow Lane, one mile south of Hinesburg village on Silver Street. Statewide maps can be found at local art stores, Lantman’s and online at vermontcrafts.com. The print will also be on display at Hinesburg’s Fall Festival Art Show in the Town Hall Gallery on September 24. For more information call 482-2407.
