Frank Thornton Resigns from Selectboard
Frank Thornton Resigns from Selectboard
by Ellie Russell,
May 6, 2010, page 1.....

Frank Thornton, for health reasons, has submitted his resignation effective immediately from the Charlotte Selectboard. Because he tires easily, Frank believes that he no longer can contribute effectively.

Frank has offered many years of distinguished service to the Town of Charlotte. His first term on the Selectboard was from 1973 to 1979. He served again from 1989 to 1995 and was reappointed again in 2003, serving until the present. Frank has also served the town as Grand Juror, Town Agent and Trustee of Public Funds. He has been president of the Charlotte Museum since 1990, a position which he continues to hold.

Anyone with a question regarding the history of Charlotte can find a well-documented response from Frank. His oft conducted tours of historic areas in the Town have been fascinating and much enjoyed. His documentation of the Ancient Roads of Charlotte resulted in a now dog-eared and well used booklet which has served as a valuable reference.

Frank has always felt that it is important for citizens to be involved in their town and to contribute in any way they can.The contributions that he has made to the Town of Charlotte are many and are deeply and sincerely appreciated. We wish him well as he relaxes and frees himself from the demands of the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.
