The Charlotte Food Shelf and Assistance fiscal year ended August 2010. We provided just over $28,200 in food, fuel assistance, gifts and other assistance during the year to individuals and families in need in our community. Thank you to all who contributed food, financial aid or your valuable time.
Thank you to the Shelburne Supermarket Coffee Bar, Mary Jane Spooner and Diane Zeller for their recent financial support. And thank you to Leo Laberge and Suzanne Lorie for the food donations.
Wish List for September and October donations: healthy cereals and children’s healthy school snacks; whole or partial skeins of yarn for our holiday hat/mitten/scarf tree.
Holiday baskets: November 4 is the deadline to sign up for Thanksgiving and Christmas food and gift baskets. You may sign up at the Food Shelf on the distribution mornings. Mark your calendars: holiday food basket pick up dates will be November 20 and December 18.
Do you have extra veggies from your garden? If you would like to donate them to the Food Shelf, please drop them off by 7 a.m. on the mornings of distribution.
All non-perishable food donations may be dropped off at the Charlotte Library, The Charlotte Congregational Church vestry, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (main entrance) or at the Food Shelf during the distribution mornings.
The Charlotte Food Shelf and Assistance is located on the lower level of the Charlotte Congregational Church vestry and is open from 7:30-9 a.m. on the following Thursdays for food distribution: September 23, October 7 and 21, November 4, December 9 and 30, January 13 and 27.
