Food Shelf News: March and April
Donations Will Be Matched
by Kerrie Pughe,
March 10, 2011, page 10.....

We are participating in the Feinstein Challenge Grant again this year. Donations to the Charlotte Food Shelf during March and April are eligible for matching funds through the Feinstein Foundation. Founded in 1991 by Alan Shawn Feinstein, the Feinstein Foundation is dedicated to the alleviation of hunger, the importance of community service in education and the values of caring, compassion and brotherhood. In the past 13 consecutive years, over 3,000 participating agencies nationwide have used the challenge to raise over 1.25 billion. It has become the most successful ongoing campaign to fight hunger ever.
If you are considering a donation to the Charlotte Food Shelf, this would be an excellent time to make your donation even more helpful in our community.
You may mail donations to: Charlotte Food Shelf & Assistance, c/o 3319 Mt. Philo Road, Charlotte, VT 05445.
Thank you to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parishioners and Walter Judge for food donations. In addition, thank you to the following for your support: Marie Luhr, Martha Perkins, Meg Smith, Ellen Bosworth, Emily Kitridge, Lane Morrison, Janet Morrison, Tina Webster, Ginny Rowland, Dinny Adamson, Deb Christie, Dee Ressler, Patsy Far, Jina Far, Gert Lotz, and Shelburne Supermarket, their employees, and all our faithful coffee and tea drinkers.
The Charlotte Food Shelf and Assistance, located on the lower level of the Charlotte Congregational Church vestry, is open from 7:30-9 a.m. on the following Thursdays for food distribution: March 17 and 31, April 14 and 28.
We are open to all community residents. Privacy is very important and respected in our mission of neighbor helping neighbor. Please remember when Charlotte Central School is closed, the Food Shelf is closed as well.
All nonperishable food donations may be dropped off at the Charlotte Library, The Charlotte Congregational Church vestry, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (main entrance) or at the Food Shelf during the distribution mornings.
For emergency food call John at 425-3130.
For emergency assistance (electricity, fuel) call Karen at 425-3252.
