Food Shelf News

Please stop by the Food Shelf table at the Town Party for a free treat!
This spring and summer the Food Shelf has been assisting approximately 27 Charlotte households.  This is an increase of ten households compared to last summer. Volunteers are working very hard to help support all those who need it. It’s important for those using the Food Shelf to come during the scheduled distribution times if at all possible. Not only is there is a bigger selection of items available, this will help the volunteers.
The Food Shelf is open to all who need it on the following Thursdays from 7:30 to 9 a.m. June 25, July 9, July 23, August 13, August 27, September 10 and 24. When visiting the Food Shelf this summer, please enter through the vestry door near the playground.
Many thanks to all who help support the efforts of the Charlotte Food Shelf! This month we would like to thank the Shelburne Supermarket for the steady support via the great coffee bar (and to those who drop their change for a steamy hot or iced coffee). Thanks to Barbara Ferdinand for the nice boxes of note cards and to the Charlotte Library staff, volunteers and community members for the wonderfully successful food drive. Thanks to the Champ Run volunteers for donating baked beans, buns and hotdogs. Thanks to all the gardeners, young and old, who are caring for “An XTRA ROW” of veggies in their garden for the Food Shelf – in fact, Roberta Whitmore and Bob Chutter are donating from their gardens already!
Many thanks to Elizabeth Berger and the children from the Congregational Church Sunday School program for planting a garden so they can harvest veggies for the Food Shelf. Thanks to Nancy and John Calcagni for donating tomato plants for the program.

Donation Wish List:
peanut butter
crackers
soup
popcorn
healthy snacks for the children
during summer vacation
toilet paper

(We have TONS of beans and

If you need emergency food-come to the Food Shelf on the dates listed above. The Food Shelf is located on the lower level of the Congregational Church vestry. For more information call Karen (425-3525), Cindi (425-3234), Lisa (425-2952) or Lynn (425-3101).
