Food Shelf News

The Feinstein Challenge to End Hunger ends on April 30.
All donations made to the Charlotte Food Shelf before this date will be matched, in part, by the Feinstein Foundation. Donations of every size are appreciated and will help ensure that the important services provided by the Charlotte Food Shelf continue. So far, $4,070.77 and 790 food items have been collected.
There are always many folks and organizations to thank for their contributions. Many thanks to the Carmel Hill Fund, Remo and Donna Pizzegalli, Jim and Peg Sharpe, Ann Eicherberger, Lori Mounreur, Silverman family and Mary Scripps and Bob Carmody and family.
Many thanks to Phyllis Kroll for providing seed money to start a new Pet Food Shelf. The Humane Society has seen an increase of pets coming in because their owners can not afford to care for them any longer.
Thanks to Nicki, Allie and Michael Lazor for establishing a “Book Shelf” at the Food Shelf. It is newly stocked with great books for anyone in the community; take a book – then pass it on to a friend or trade it in for another good read.
Food donations are adding up. Special Thanks to Shirley Bean and the Charlotte Organic Coop for their generous food donations. Thanks to CCS student Elizabeth Richards, who is organizing a food drive at the school for the Feinstein Challenge. Each food item placed in the collection box is valued at $1 for the purposes of the Feinstein Challege matching grant. Thanks to Cindy Robinson and Diane Doliver for creating candy bags for Easter and Passover. Thanks to Laurel Inglehart for collecting and distributing children’s clothes.
Many thanks to Lisa Elliot, Betty Ryan, Lisa Poirier, Karen Doris and Tammy Hall with her daughter Erin, who distribute lots of food to neighbors in need this month. Marilyn Holmberg and Sharon Richards have been transporting additional gallons of milk to the Food Shelf because the need has increased. Thank you both.
If you need emergency food please come to the Charlotte Food Shelf. It is located on the lower level of the Charlotte Congregational Church vestry (drive around back). For more information call Karen at 425-3252 or Lynn at 425-3101.
The Food Shelf will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on the following Thursdays: April 30, May 14, May 28, June 11, and June 25.
