Food Shelf

The Food Shelf annual meeting took place on September 23. Budget planning and preparing for the winter topped the agenda and the holiday volunteer schedule was set as well. If you would like to help setting up the holiday food baskets this year, please pencil the following dates into your calendar. The more the merrier! Actual sign up will start in November.
Thanksgiving Food Basket Set-Up Day:
Friday, November 21, from 8:15 to 11 a.m.
Christmas Food/Toy Basket Set Up day:
Friday, December 19, from 8:15 to 11 a.m.
As always, there are many community members and organizations to thank. Thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Ullrich for donating another large box of tomatoes. Thanks to Bloomfield Farms for all the veggie donations throughout the summer; thanks to Shelburne Supermarket for donating the profits from the coffee bar; thanks to the “Mystery Jelly Maker” who donated strawberry rhubarb and crabapple jelly. Thanks to Dan Shepardson from CVU and the CVU students who participated in the “Kids Can Help” program, collecting 800 pounds of food for the Food Shelf.
Thanks to Helen Brown for donating butternut squash, to Jim and Kathy Manchester for the potatoes, to Katherine Hurley for the squash and to all the folks who walked in the Crop Walk (25% of the profits go to support our local Food Shelf). Also thanks to Junior Girl Scout Troop #698 and leader Trisha Sulva for collecting $124.90 worth of empty bottles in collaboration with the Art Burleigh Family Farm – all of the funds were donated to the Charlotte Food Shelf. Way To Go Girls! Abby Postlewaite, Annie Berdell, Katie Berdell and Julie Sulva, thank you for your great effort!
