FARMS WITH FLOOD DAMAGE ASKED TO CONTACT LOCAL FSA OFFICE
September 22, 2011, page 15.....
Vermont farmers whose farms sustained damage from Tropical Storm Irene are urged to contact their county U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency office as soon as possible.
This includes farms of all types (dairy, vegetable, livestock, orchard, crop, maple or diversified), size and management methods, both organic and conventional. Farmers should call their local office, regardless of whether or not they have participated in USDA programs in the past or they carry crop insurance.
This is important because representatives from the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets; USDA Farm Service Agency; USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service; University of Vermont Extension; local Natural Resource Conservation Districts and other partner organizations plan to visit every Vermont farm that has sustained damage to assist in recovery.
Farmers should call their county USDA office. For Addison County, call the Middlebury office at 388-6748; for Chittenden County, call the Williston office at 865-7895.
