Equinox Race in Charlotte
Equinox Race in Charlotte
by Martha Keenan, Race Director
July 1, 2010, pg 14

Saturday, June 19, was a beautiful, if not a bit hot, day for the inaugural running of the Equinox 5K and 10K trail run. Sixty-eight runners showed up for the run ranging from 7 to 78 years of age.

Using the CVU cross-country course at the Keenan’s in East Charlotte, the group ran over mowed fields, old sugar wood roads and single track, moving up and down hills and from sunny fields to shady woods. A nice breeze kept the heat at bay. After the run, a barbeque was enjoyed by all. Brian Collero (21:28) and Ellie Bouffard (27:06) won the 5k. Joe Noonan (40:13) and Elizabeth Bouchard-Hall (52:43) won the 10K. Runners from Charlotte included Bill Dysart, Liz Foster, Kelly Wilson, Russ Cooke, Carlie Krolick, John Howe and more. The Green Mountain Athletic Association (GMAA) organized this annual event, one of more than a dozen races held each year.
