East Village Planning Groups are Meeting
East Village Planning Groups are Meeting
by Edd Merritt,
August 26, 2010, page 4.....

The work group looking into various “uses” for property in the East Village of Charlotte has been the most active of such groups over the summer. Member, Heather Manning said they had met three times and were looking toward a fourth gathering in mid-September. They chose to assess the uses of land and property between Carpenter and Prindle Roads on a north/south line and between Bean and Bingham Brook Roads east to west. These are arbitrary delineations of what they call village boundaries. However, they plan to create a map of current uses in that area breaking it down into commercial and residential, looking at natural resources as well. The “natural resources” work group has also asked Town Administrator Dean Bloch for maps of the area as has the “transitions and patterns” committee.
Assessing current usage in light of the work group’s theme or charge appears to be a primary task of the early meetings for all groups. In its attempt to suggest where the village limits ought to lie, the committee investigating transitions and patterns will view maps with an eye toward what might rest within the village and what might border it. They too will be interested in current zoning regulations for certain areas and the extent and type of natural resources available.
The groups anticipate having information available to share and discuss with the interested public in larger meetings this fall.
