Earthquake!
Earthquake! The Charlotte News office swayed with the rest of Vermont at about 1:55 pm on August 23, as we prepared this week's issue to go to the printer. Wow!

No damage was done in Vermont. The shake had traveled all the way from Virginia, where a magnitude 5.8 earthquake occurred about 40 miles north of Richmond. Several historic monuments and buildings in Washington, DC, such as the Washington Monument and National Cathedral, were closed the following day for evaluation by engineers due to concerns about cracks that appeared.
