Denise Danyow Receives Community Service Award
Denise Danyow Receives Community Service Award
by Nancy Wood
March 11, 2010, page 7

Retiring School Board Chair Patrice Machavern presented the School Board’s Community Service Award to Denise Danyow at the March 1 meeting, saying she “has constructively and skillfully contributed with a calm, thoughtful manner positively impacting the lives of students at CCS both in and beyond the classroom for nearly a decade.”

Machavern noted Danyow’s many contributions to the school community. She described her as an avid advocate for enrichment for students who participated in the Enrichment Program at CCS from the very beginning. She contributed on team-level Parent Advisory Councils, the Enrichment PAC, coordinated a CCS Passport Day in 2007 to ensure all students would meet the border crossing requirements for the end-of-year Quebec City trip, assisted with CCS Votes in 2008, and since 2007 assisted with graduation. She is an active volunteer, leading book clubs and helping with stage band trips, lending a hand to transport students or equipment as well as being willing to jump in and do some of the heavy lifting. She served on a number of committees over the past decade, including Length of School Day, Enrichment and most recently Communications.

Machavern noted that “her contributions are deeply appreciated. It is with gratitude that today we acknowledge Denise Danyow for her many contributions to CCS.”
