End of the season honors for CVU athletes
The end of the winter sports season brings out the lists of athletes who performed exceptionally well and CVU names appear regularly.

Nordic Ski Team All-State Selections: Sienna Searles was named to the first team, placing 4th among the top ten women in the state. Sierra Frisbie received honorable mention.
Hans-Frederik Fahle led all-state men, and his Redhawk teammates Kilian Muller and Sam Epstein joined him on the first team. Charlotte’s Jake Marston received honorable mention, finishing 13th in the state rankings.

Burlington Free Press All-State Hockey: Robbie Dobrowski, a senior forward from Shelburne was named to the Free Press’ first team while his fellow forward, Kyle Logan, earned a place on the second team, and Eric Maclean, senior defenseman of the state champion Redhawks, received honorable mention. The coaches also felt Dobrowski was top candidate for Player of the Year. They added four more CVU men to their teams, starting with Logan on the first team, Derek Goodwin and Maclean at forward and defense on the second, and gave junior Wilson Mandell honorable mention.
On the women’s side of the ledger, the Free Press recognized junior Sophia Steinhoff for her superior play on defense. Forward Molly Howard joined her as a first-team selection. Steinhoff split her time this season between forward and defense, still managing 19 goals and 2 assists. Howard had 24 goals and 13 assists. Defenseman Alyx Rivard joined her teammates on the coaches’ top squad. Goalie Emily Sackett, Hannah Johnson and Rivard earned academic All-Star status.

Burlington Free Press All-State Basketball: Forward Shae Hulbert of the state runner-up Redhawks received honorable mention from the Free Press, and the coaches named her to their first team, Amanda Kinneston to their second, while Carlee Evans received honorable mention.
High-scoring CVU forward Jake Donnelly made the Free Press third team all-state and was given first-team honors by the coaches.

Redhawks named Ms. and Mr. Hockey for 2010-2011.
CVU standouts Sophia Steinhoff and Robbie Dobrowski received exceptional accolades as the Burlington Free Press’ Ms. and Mr. Hockey for the past season. Dobrowski, who hopes to continue playing at Middlebury College in the fall, was complimented by his coach, Mike Murray, as one who “got better at making other people around him better.” His goal in the final minutes of the championship game gave CVU the title, and his career 94 goals and 71 assists place him near the top of scorers in Redhawk history. Steinhoff, a junior at CVU, “competes in every drill. I think that’s what puts her over the edge,” according to her coach, Tom Ryan. South Burlington’s Mickey Toof said, “She’s the most skilled player in the league.” Sophie is the first Redhawk to be named Ms. Hockey.

Redhawks end high school careers in style.
Kyle Logan’s goal and assists by Derek Goodwin and J.P. Benoit helped the Austin Conference hockey All-Stars knock off the Harris Division 4-1 in the Essex Rotary – KeyBank All-Star classic.
