CCS Students Receive Vermont Scholar Leader Awards

Anna Franceschetti and Noa Urbaitel were honored as Middle Level Scholar Leaders at the 13th Annual Vermont Scholar Leader Awards Banquet on June 2 at Norwich University in Northfield. Students from middle level schools across the state were honored. The event is organized by the Vermont Association for Middle Level Education and the New England League of Middle Schools with supporting sponsorship from Lifetouch National School Studios.
Nearly 390 students, educators and parents attended. Eighty-one eighth grade students from 41 schools were honored this year. Students are selected by their schools based on the standards outlined in the “Vital Results” and “Fields of Knowledge” sections for the Vermont Framework of Standards and Learning Opportunities. The goal of the Scholar Leader program is to honor students who exhibit both academic and leadership qualities.
This is the first time students from CCS have been nominated for this award. Anna and Noa were chosen from the CCS Student Leadership Team. Kathy Batty, guidance counselor, and Sandra Jump, interim principal, were the 2009-2010 advisors.
