Children's Center Expands with After-K at the Congregational Church
Children's Center Expands with After-K at the Congregational Church
by The Charlotte Children's Center
July 14, 2011, pg 7

This fall the Charlotte Children’s Center is opening the Charlotte Children’s Center Extension at the Congregational Church. This new classroom will house an After-K Enrichment Program in the afternoons for 5-7 year olds, and a preschool program that meets three times weekly for children ages 3 and 4. The Children’s Center had so many requests from families for spaces in the fall that the Board of Directors made the decision to open another classroom off-site to accommodate new and returning families.
The After-K program will run from noon-5:30 p.m. each day and the school bus will drop off the children at the church after morning kindergarten. The enrichment program will feature low teacher student ratios, a project-based curriculum and enrichment activities.
The Voyager preschool program will meet Tuesday, Thursday and Friday mornings from 8:30-11:45 a.m. This will be a kindergarten readiness program that will emphasize early language and literacy development. A licensed preschool teacher will staff both programs. The new classroom will also be licensed by the State of Vermont and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children. For more information or to enroll children call the director Nancy Elder at 425-3328 or visit our website at charlottechildrensctr.com.
The Charlotte Children’s Center is located on Ferry Road across from the Charlotte Library. It is a nonprofit organization serving the childcare and early childhood education needs of southern Chittenden County. The center is also accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and has a 5-Star rating from Vermont’s Step Ahead recognition system.
