Chasing the Winter Blues
January 28, 2010, Issue of The Charlotte News
pages 1, 9-11, 12 and more
Michael Krasnow and David Hill chase the winter blues by chasing a basketball with younger players in the CCS gym (see our cover photo by Edd Merritt). Everyone is welcome to warm up at the Monday and Wednesday evening pick up games.
Mollie Wills and Craig Bunten fly down the hill behind their home on homemade jack jumpers.
Vermont winters are full of healthy indoor and outdoor activities like this for young and old. But short days and capricious weather can bring on cabin fever for many of us.
We’ve filled this issue of The Charlotte News with pictures and ideas for ways to “chase the winter blues” both indoors and out; see Elizabeth Bassett’s Out-doors column on pages 9 through 11, Leath Tonino’s article about jack jumping on page 10, and the Calendar on page 18. The Charlotte Library and Senior Center are cheerful gathering places in every season and feel particularly welcoming in winter.
And for the civic minded, join the public discussion at regular meetings of the Selectboard, Planning Commission and other committees and groups at the Town Hall.
