Birds, Herps and Habitat of Charlotte’s Hills

Explore the glories of a rich hardwood forest in springtime with skilled naturalists Matt Kolan and Jesse Mohr. We’ll start early….while the birds are still active, looking/listening for their showy territorial and courting behavior. We’ll be on the lookout for herps (reptiles and amphibians) in wet areas and become reacquainted with the awakening forest plants and trees. We’ll learn why this is a significant wildlife habitat in Charlotte.
This involves a moderate amount of walking on hilly terrain, so wear sturdy shoes/boots. Bring binoculars and insect repellent! When: Saturday, May 31, 7:30-9:30 a.m. Who: Adults and teens. No pets please. Suggested donation: $3/individual, $5/family. Group size is limited. To register and get directions, call Linda at 425-5795 by May 30.
