The French Conversation Group meets every Wednesday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Challenge your brain! With an eye toward speaking and understanding the language better, this group comes together to “chat” about the week’s activities or interests with a goal of improving their fluency through listening and speaking. Try this fun, no pressure way to meet some new folks, sharpen your mind and practice your French.  No fee.
Charlotte Knits! And More... Get together every first and third Wednesday of the month from 1-3 p.m. It’s not just knitting, so bring your needles, yarn, hooks or thread. Bring your projects and ideas. Bring your neighbor. All are welcome, whether a beginner or experienced. No fee.
Genealogy with Carl Tatlock convenes the first Thursday of every month from 1-3 p.m. Do you want to research your ancestors but are not sure how to get started? Or have you hit a brick wall in your research and need some ideas on what to try next? Come meet with others who have worked on their family trees to share ideas, information and the stories of your journey through history. Family Tree Maker and Ancestory.com are available at the center to assist you in your search. No fee.
Gentleman’s Eatery with Roy Whitmore and Bob Chutter welcome you on the second and fourth Thursday mornings of each month from 7:30-9 a.m. Do you enjoy eating breakfast out in the company of friends? If so, and if you are willing to share in the preparation of the meal and related housekeeping duties, then the Gentleman’s Eatery may be for you. There are opportunities to practice your skills and to learn from others. At each breakfast the menu for the next meal is planned, and someone volunteers to prepare a major part of the next meal. There is plenty of time for sharing conversation. Registration required. Suggested donation: $5.
Zumba Gold - The Fun Workout for Anyone, Any Age, Any Ability with Jeanne Neu on Friday mornings from 9:15-10 a.m. Dates: 11/4, 11/11, 11/18, 12/2, 12/9 and 12/16. Zumba Gold was designed for the older active adult and utilizes the same great Latin styles of music and dance used in the Zumba basic program. It’s just as much fun, just not as fast! This easy-to-follow program allows anyone any age to be able to perform the Zumba Gold dance moves. The routines are easy to learn and follow so that success can be achieved quickly. Some of the featured dances in this program are salsa, cha-cha, cumbia, rock-‘n-roll and merengue. In addition they also use such dances as the twist, the Charleston, belly dancing, flamenco and tango. The Zumba Gold program strives to improve balance, strength, flexibility and most importantly, the heart. Be sure to wear comfortable workout clothing, bring water and a towel as well as a “ready to party” attitude! Registration required. Fee: $42.
Please join us for events following the Wednesday Luncheon beginning at 1 p.m.:
11/9: Wreath Decorating with Kathi Monteith
Get your creative juices flowing! Kathi will join us to describe the Annual Holiday Stroll and Silent Auction at The Arbors and then inspire us to create a centerpiece or wreath that represents the Charlotte Senior Center. How would YOU represent our center on a wreath? These creations will then be submitted for auction on December 1 with proceeds from the event going to the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging.
