Willem Lange and Bob Chutter will present “A Trip Above the Arctic Circle” at 7 p.m. on January 22 at the Senior Center.

SNOW DAYS! If there is ever a question whether the Senior Center is closed due to weather, know that we will follow the Charlotte Central School closing, which is posted on local TV and radio stations as well as on cssu.org.
Veterans Day Update: A DVD of the Veterans Day Program will be available for purchase at the Center beginning January 22 at a cost of $10.
Join Jeanne Comouche from Armistead Caregiver Services on Thursday, January 21, from 11a.m. – 1:30 p.m. for A Taste of Italy! Making pizza together with her grandmother was one of Jeanne’s favorite things to do. You will listen to some Pavarotti while making pizza and afterward watch a DVD of Jeanne’s trip to Italy last September, primarily visiting the Cinque Terre, Florence, Tuscany and Lake Como regions. Come warm up and play in the kitchen with Jeanne and bring stories of your trips to Italy to share as well. Registration required. No Fee.
There will be a special Friday night presentation on January 22 at 7 p.m. with Bob Chutter and Willem Lange titled A Trip Above the Arctic Circle. Break up the doldrums of January and join Will and Bob for a video presentation of their July/August adventures from the Dismal Lakes, the Kendall River, the Coppermine River to Coronation Gulf. The map references are latitude 66 and longitude 117 in Nunavut Province (formerly Northwest Territories). Donations collected for this event will help defray the cost of producing the Veterans Day DVD.

Senior Luncheons are held every Wednesday at noon. Reservations are necessary in advance and can be made by calling the Senior Center at 425-6345. A $4.00 donation is requested.
Those who do not wish to share lunch with us are welcome to drop in around 1 p.m. to enjoy the After Lunch Offerings:
1/20: The Silk Road with Preb Stritter
Some of the territories of Pakistan, Khyber Pass, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Georgia are in the daily news as war and terrorism reign but Preb will share the fantastic sights that she enjoyed there in a more restful time. Included are the historic sights of Bukhara and Samarkand and a personal look at Georgia.
1/27: The Ultimate Annapurna Trek with Carl Herzog
A slide presentation of a unique approach to a classic Himalayan trek around one of the world’s highest mountain massifs. (A massif is a mountainous mass of spearate peaks forming the backboane of a maountain range.) The trekking route ranges from 3,000 feet to 17,500 feet above sea level, the slides include spectacular mountain scenery, isolated mountain villages and villagers and Buddhist temples and artifacts.
