British Soccer Camps in July
The Charlotte Recreation summer camp program will feature British soccer camps at CCS on July 18-22 for children aged 3-18.
First Kicks 3-4 year olds • 1 hour per day. Our innovative camp curriculum introduces young players to the soccer basics through fundamental activities, games and fun soccer challenges. We strive to create a perfect learning environment with maximum participation, lots of repetition and, of course, as much fun as possible. Your young campers will come away from the magical week not only with a better understanding of soccer, but with a true love for the game.
Minisoccer 4-6 year olds • 1.5 hours per day. A longer and slightly more advanced program for younger children, this camp still includes all the First Kick ethics. Young players learn and develop their individual skills within fun games and practices.  Sessions remain upbeat and fun, but emphasis is on learning correct techniques ensuring no bad habits are picked up at an early age. Players are also exposed to small-sided games where a basic understanding of rules and strategy is introduced.
Half-Day Camps 6-16 year olds • 3 hours per day. Emphasis is placed on individual skill development and mastery of core techniques through individual drills, small group practices and coached games. This program also includes our famous World Cup Tournament. During the World Cup campers are split into teams (countries), and they represent that country throughout the week in scrimmages and challenges. The weeklong competition encourages our “Champions of Character” and concludes on Friday during our closing ceremony.
Full-Day Camps 10-18 year olds • 6 hours per day. A more advanced camp for serious players, focusing on game-related techniques, tactical development and coached match play.  This program begins with the skill development of the half-day camp and then pushes players past their limits as their skills are tested in tactical situations, game-related scenarios and competitive scrimmages.

Charlotte Youth Tennis Camp
Amy deGroot, PTR Certified Professional, will again direct the Charlotte Youth Tennis Camp during summer 2011 at the Charlotte Town Beach Courts. Dates will be announced. Give your child an early start on a sport for a lifetime! Campers will receive instruction and play drills, matches and fun all-camp games. Bring racquets, sneakers, water and a snack. We will make our best effort to reschedule rain days.

2011 Tim Serrell Tennis Clinic
Dates will be announced. Tim Serrell was a summer resident of Charlotte who loved to play tennis. When he died, he left money in a trust fund to provide free tennis lessons to the children of Charlotte. The program began in 1989 and has become a Charlotte summer tradition.

Eighth Annual Hoops Charlotte Basketball Camp
Directed by Ute Otley, Junior Varsity coach at Champlain Valley Union High School and former Dartmouth College point guard, the 2011 Charlotte Basketball Camp is for 4th-9th graders. Dates will be posted on the website in March. The objective of the camp is to teach and develop the fundamentals of basketball. It is our goal to improve each camper’s individual skills while developing team concepts. Every camper will be put in competitive situations in which he/she will have the chance to excel. We want your child to love the game of basketball when he/she leaves our camp.

Offer your suggestions.
Charlotte Recreation is also looking at other camps to offer this summer. Please continue to check for updated information on the website. As always, if you have any questions, contact Deb Stone at the Recreation Office recreation@townofcharlotte.com or at 425-6129. Our website address is charlottevt.org tab recreation.
