The Charlotte Children’s Center is seeking a community member interested in early childhood education to join its Board of Directors.
“We’re hoping to attract a community member committed to contributing to the strength of our early childhood education programs and the important role the center plays in making Charlotte an attractive place to live and raise a family,” said board chairperson, Andrew Thurber. “Anyone interested should contact the board by e-mail at child.vermont@gmail.com.”
Founded 28 years ago by a group of parents who saw the need for high-quality childcare in Charlotte, the center is governed by a board of seven people who are either parents of students or reside in the Charlotte community. The center is a not-for-profit organization serving the needs of 58 children ranging in ages from six weeks to eight years. The main campus is located at 116 Ferry Road; a satellite facility for a morning-only preschool and the after-school program is located at the Charlotte Congregational Church, 403 Church Hill Road.
Board members are volunteers usually serving two-year terms. Directors contribute to the center by advising on policy and programs, setting the annual budget, and consulting on staff development and performance.
