CCS Welcomes New Teachers
CCS Welcomes New Teachers
by Rowan Beck,
September 8 2011, page 7.....

Last week Charlotte Central School (CCS) welcomed back members of the staff as well as two new hires. The two new teachers are Beth Adams and Alice Trageser. Adams will be teaching one of the new kindergarten classes, and Trageser will be teaching art. Both come to CCS with interesting backgrounds.
Beth Adams arrives at CCS with a variety of experience in the field of early education, working over the last eight years in both the private and public schools. She moved to Vermont from Massachusetts in 2010 and comes to CCS following two successful long-term substitute Kindergarten assignments in Williston and South Burlington. Beth earned a bachelor’s degree from Hamilton College in New York and a master’s in education from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She also attended the teacher certification program at the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center. She will certainly be busy with her new group of kindergartners at CCS!
Alice Trageser is also a very experienced teacher. She is a resident of Charlotte and has taught art at Hinesburg Community School for nearly 18 years. This year she will be teaching art to students in grades 3-8 at CCS. Alice has completed extensive coursework in Asian studies at UVM and has traveled to Japan, China and Thailand.  She is a member of the CSSU/Flynn Arts Advocacy Committee and has been a steering committee member of the Vermont Art Teachers Association since 1994. She also runs a popular summer art camp that many local children attend. Alice has been busy setting up the art room and is excited to be working with CCS students this year.
CCS has also hired three new staff members, including Margo Austin, a new student assistance professional (SAP). SAP counselors give educational presentations that help prevent substance use, identify students with problems, coordinate support groups to help students cope with substance use, and may refer students to community programs for treatment. SAPs help to build better links among students, their families, school personnel and community service agencies.
The new Speech and Language pathologist is Maureen Delaney. She has worked in the field of speech and language pathology for 30 years. Finally, the new CY Mentoring Coordinator is Bethe Ogle. Other staff who have been welcomed back include Maureen Little, who will return to her 6th grade teaching position, and Connie Engle, who is the half-time Special Education Administrator.
