January 13, 2011 (Updated January 22, 2010)....
The CCS Board has announced the appointment of Rich Lowrey as the community member representing Charlotte on the Merger Committee (along with school board director Sue Thibault). According to Board chair Lynne Jaunich, "Rich has two children at CCS. He has a business background and involvement working with school districts across Vermont and New Hampshire."
The Board has issued the following notice last week seeking a volunteer:
MERGER COMMITTEE MEMBER NEEDED
Under Act 153, the Charlotte Central School Board is working with the other school boards in the Supervisory Union to look at the feasibility of merging school districts. The boards are forming a merger committee, consisting of board and community members. The meetings of the committee will commence on February 2 from 6-8pm, and will meet 3-4 times through at least April. At that time, if a merger is endorsed by the boards, the committee would continue to meet through August to develop the report to the State Board of Education.
The first meeting of the Merger Committee has been set for February 2, 2010.
