Cafferty to Lead Charlotte Democrats

Edward Cafferty was elected Chair and Secretary of the Charlotte Democratic Committee at their biannual reorganization meeting held at the Town Hall on September 27. Cafferty is an instructor in the Division of Education and Human Studies at Champlain College. He is a former chair of the Jericho Democratic Committee and a former member of both the Chittenden County Democratic Committee and the state committee. “Ed brings enormous experience and expertise to this committee. We are very fortunate to have Ed serve as chair” stated outgoing chair Darrilyn Peters.

Michael Kurt was elected Vice-Chair, while Art Ridge and Valerie Graham were re-elected Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, respectively. Delegates to the Chittenden County Democratic Committee were also elected: Edward Cafferty, John Howe, Michael Kurt, Charles Russell, and Mike Yantachka. Debbie Ramsdell agreed to be an alternate delegate. The number of delegates a town is allocated for the County Committee is based on the number of votes for the Democratic candidate for Governor in the previous election.

The members in attendance at the meeting were elected to the Charlotte Democratic Committee. The committee voted to authorize the Town Chair to add committee members upon their request and several people have already made that request.
Members discussed activities for the next few months.

The next meeting of the Charlotte Democratic Committee will be held on Tuesday,
October 25 at 7:30pm in the Town Hall. For further information, contact Ed Cafferty at 598-8957 or email at edc609@gmail.com
