Berries and More Berries...

Our family would like to thank all the blackberry pickers who helped us surpass our goal of $800 this summer. With the help of some dedicated family members and friends we did it! We generated $860 and donated the entire proceeds to the Charlotte Food Shelf as has been done in the past.
The berry patch has been in our family for approximately 100 years. We are at 1981 Greenbush Road. The berry patch was started by my great grandparents and has thrived for all these years. We just recently purchased the home from my grandmother, Marion Roberts, who is thrilled that we have kept with the tradition of selling blackberries and making homemade jam and muffins. My two daughters, Olivia and Greta Hagios, thoroughly enjoyed running the berry stand this summer and learning to make the blackberry jam and muffins from their aunt, Pam Darling. Pam, my uncle Ted Roberts and his wife, Beth Sytsma, my uncle Bill Roberts, Katherine Tabailloux, along with Alexandra Lehmann (the monument lady) all had a really big hand in helping us pick and keep this berry tradition alive. We would also like to thank all the other family, friends and neighbors who stopped by to do their own picking and would always pick a few quarts to leave up at the stand to sell. Thank you! Also a big thanks to Olivia and Greta for diligently waking up early every morning, getting into that berry patch and then standing at their stand with big smiles welcoming back old and new customers.
We will continue with our family tradition next summer and would love to see all of you again. Our goal next summer is to reach $1,000! Our donation will again be for the Charlotte Food Shelf. Thank you again to all our helpers and please join us again next summer.
