to Emmalee Cherington and Timothy Tenney on the birth of their son, Waydon Tenney Cherington, August 31 at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington.
to Polly Heininger and Eric Smith on the birth of their son, Oliver Heininger Smith, August 26 at Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington.
to Dana Farley, who has been named professional planner of the year 2009 by the Northern New England Chapter of the American Planning Association. The chapter covers Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. Her award will be presented at the NNECAPA conference in Belfast, Maine, September 24.
to Walter Judge, for his selection as one of America’s leading business lawyers for 2009 in the recently published Chambers USA. Judge is a member of the litigation practice group at Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC with whom he has practiced since 1992. He graduated from Boston College Law School and currently is an adjunct professor at Vermont Law School. He serves on the Vermont Bar Association’s Judicial Nominating Board, screening candidates nominated to fill judicial vacancies in the state.
to Tica Netherwood, Spanish and French teacher at Charlotte Central School, who is the featured “Artist of the Month” for September at Big Picture Framing on Shelburne Road. Her painting entitled “Arizona Son” is displayed on an easel, and several of her watercolor pieces are available for sale.
to Royce Bora, Maurice Armell, and George Gosselin, who were featured in the September 2 Burlington Free Press for their work in preparing the school’s physical plant and grounds for the coming school year. Bora said, “Basically, we are doing anything and everything to get ready for the kids to come back.” Their efforts appear to have paid off.
to Rachel Carter, author of the “Vermont Vibes Blog,” which is featured in the September 2009 issue of Pontiac Performance Magazine, the official Pontiac publication published by General Motors Corporation.
to Victoria Pane, who will have completed two years as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Denver where she teaches nutrition education, cooking and marketing skills to young adults who are considered at risk. She has been working with the nonprofit Operation Frontline, an organization with which she will continue as an employee.
to Bruce Hasse who received his 64 gallon pin from the American Red Cross Blood Services, New England Region.

Sympathy
is extended to family and friends of Dwight Kelton of Montpelier, who passed away August 31 at the age of 87. His surviving family includes his daughter Anne Kelton and son-in-law Tom Cosinuke of Charlotte. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory be sent to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, Vermont 05641.
