to Mickey Schwarz, who earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Utah this spring. Schwarz majored in parks, recreation and tourism with a minor and certificate in arts and technology. He is employed by Film Creative, a small logo and web design company located in Park City, Utah.
to Madeline Howe, a 2009 graduate of Champlain Valley Union High School, who was one of five seniors to earn summa cum laude status. A new designation this year, the recognition replaces rankings as valedictorian and salutatorian.
to Martin Gawron, who earned a certificate in practical nursing from Vermont Technical College June 20. He and his fellow graduates are now eligible to take the National Council Licensure examination for practical nurses in order to begin work in their field of study.
to Sumner Fisher, who graduated from the Lake Champlain Waldorf High School on June 13. Sumner is the son of Ted and Mary Fisher of Charlotte.
to Emma Broderick, who earned highest honors as a junior at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire, this spring. Emma is the daughter of Andrew Broderick and Amy Fitzgerald of Charlotte.
to Walter Judge, Larry Meier and R. Prescott (Scott) Jaunich, senior attorneys with Downs Rachlin Martin, who were recognized in the recent issue of Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers 2009.
to Jacob Edgar whose work as a producer of world music emanating in Charlotte at what had been Charles Eller’s studio on Carpenter Road, was featured in the Living Section of the June 21 Burlington Free Press. Edgar purchased the studio and home in 2006 and turned it into the Cumbancha world music company. The article notes that Lamine Fellah, born in Nigeria and currently a South American resident, came to Charlotte to “feed his creative needs” and mix a new album by his group Sarazino. “It’s a great place to stay and write and record and mix,” he said.
to Kelli McMullen Temple, who with her seven-year-old gelding, Veelion, won the CCI 1* Division of the 23rd annual Todd Sandler Challenge held in Bromont, Quebec, June 10-14. A 1996 Olympic Team member, Kelli grew up in Charlotte where she was a member of the Charlotte Pony Club.
