to Alexander Bown, a junior at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, New York, who achieved placement on the Dean’s List for the fall semester 2008. A business administration major with an emphasis in finance, Alex is the son of Charlotte Town Clerk Mary Mead and Eric Bown.

to Michael Sinclair, a marine technician with Volvo-Penta, who recently completed a training program in “electronic vessel control-ct” at the company’s training site in the Marine Technology Department of New England Institute of Technology.

to Peter Carreiro who was featured in the February 18 Burlington Free Press for his work as owner of Rise n’ Shine dairy and natural food products’ delivery service as well as his commitment to the community volunteer firefighting. In the article, Bonnie Christie says she remembers fondly her milkman when she was growing up and supports Peter’s emphasis on local products.

to Bob Bloch, director of BYOBiz who was featured in the March 2 Burlington Free Press as a sponsor of the second annual Champlain College Elevator Pitch Competition held last Tuesday. Bob’s company helps college students plan, start and run their own businesses while they are still in school. KeyBank supplied prize money for the winners, and Bloch served as a “suit” to whom students had to pitch their ideas in a matter of 90 seconds – the length of an elevator ride.

to Tom and Lori Delia, owners of Trattoria Delia Restaurant in Burlington. The restaurant is one of a select few to receive Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s “Award of Unique Distinction,” based on the selectivity and size of their wine program, educational initiatives and special wine events. The awards are featured in the February 2009 issue of the magazine and online at winemag.com/.

to Curren Simard who was featured and pictured in the February 25 Burlington Free Press in a cover story on the New England Ballet Conservatory’s dance for seniors at the Allenwood Retirement Center in South Burlington. Curren and a classmate, Zaneta Sulley of South Burlington, performed a Spanish duet.

to Hillary Chutter-Ames, a student at Burlington High School and granddaughter of Bob and Aileen Chutter of Charlotte, who was named a finalist in the 2009 competition for National Merit Scholarships. Hillary is also a candidate for a Presidential Scholarship.

is extended to family and friends of Cheryl Davis Mead of Burlington who passed away February 21 at her home at the age of 61. She and her husband, Dewitt Mead shared time between Shaker Heights, Ohio and Charlotte where they sailed and gardened. Her surviving family includes her sister-in-law Liz Foster and Liz’s husband, Jim, along with their children Libby and Jeb Foster of Charlotte. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the American Red Cross, Northern Vermont Chapter, 29 Mansfield Avenue, Burlington, Vermont 05401 or to the Humane Society of Chittenden County, 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, Vermont 05403.

is extended to family and friends of Paul Plante of Williston who passed away February 25 in Burlington at the age of 76. His surviving family includes his son Paul II and wife, Jill, daughter Samantha and husband, John, as well as grandchildren Daphne Plante, Angel Young, Amanda and Jake Lee, all of Charlotte. is extended to family and friends of Frances Adams of Bridport, Vermont who passed away February 23 in Vergennes at the age of 90. Her surviving family includes her daughter and son-in-law Paula and Gary Warner of Charlotte. is extended to family and friends of Bernadette Laberge Viens of South Burlington who passed away February 28 at the age of 56. The daughter of the late Leo Laberge and Reina Laberge, Bernadette was raised in Charlotte. Surviving family includes her brother Leo Laberge of Charlotte.
